We recently shopped at the wine mega-store, Total Wine, and purchased the store’s best-selling Cabernet Sauvignon for about $14. I can see, or should I say taste, why it’s the store favorite. This Cab is a big, lush, fruit-filled delight from Lodi’s oldest operating winery, Oak Ridge.
Fresh, ripe fruit on the nose and palate changes to a more raisin-like quality on the finish. It delivers pleasant vanilla and cedar elements in a creamy texture. While reviews of older vintages complained of too much oak, the balance of the 2012 vintage leans more toward jammy cherries and plums.
Oak Ridge Cab delivers ample fruit while still preserving a dry character. At $13 it’s easy to see why it’s so popular. We also bought the Oak Ridge Zinfandel and can’t wait to try it!
