Discovering an unfamiliar grape varietal, reading about a wine region, or being intrigued by a winemaker’s philosophy is often a catalyst to trying a new wine. Uncovering a hidden gem, especially one that I can buy locally, gives me a thrill.
While other folks may be pouring their hearts out and expressing their inner-most thoughts and feelings in their journals, I’m recording what I eat and drink every day.
There are those wines you drink that give you absolute pleasure. Others are tolerable and for happy hour pricing, or free, you’ll settle. Then there is wine that you must simply pour down the drain while gently humming “Taps”.
Are you paying more money for a great wine, or its snob appeal? Sometimes it’s difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.
